The East Sussex Children's Book Award 2025 is enjoyed by children aged 8 – 11 years, but everyone can take part!

Library Membership for Teachers

A Teachers’ Library Card entitles you to borrow up to 40 books for 12 weeks from our special Teachers’ Collection. If you already have a teachers' library card you can reserve your books for this term now. From September 24 you will have the option to have your books delivered to school. ESCC schools and academies term time only.

BBC 500 Words Writing Competition

BBC's 500 Words, the UK’s largest UK writing competition for children aged 5-11, is back. Returning on 24 September 2024, it’s a fantastic way to encourage children to develop their writing skills and foster a love for storytelling by asking them to write a story they would love to read.

Book a Librarian Visit

Book a Librarian for a class visit; we can promote the benefits of reading, give you a library tour, read a story or sing some rhymes and give children a chance to enjoy and borrow books. You can book a virtual visit if you can't make it to the library, or we can come to you!

Online Learning Resources

Go beyond Wikipedia with Britannica Junior and Britannica Student. Explore videos, articles and biographies to help you with your homework. There are even tips on the best way to research and present the information you have found.
