99% : mass impoverishment and how we can end it

We are looking at the first generation in living memory who can expect to be poorer than their parents, even as the economy continues to grow. This is unprecedented. No generation in modern history has been poorer than its parents. And they could be quite a lot poorer. If we continue as we are going, the civilisation we enjoy today will not last until 2050. The early signs are already here. In 2017, we read that the economy was booming and stock markets were at an all-time high, yet at the same time we heard that wages were not keeping pace with inflation and food-banks had more 'customers' than ever before. If the economy is doing so well, how can most people not be doing well? If the pie is growing, why aren't we all getting bigger slices? If we are so well-off, why is our children's generation set to be the first in living memory to be worse-off than its predecessors?
