World Animal Day - Make a Mug - Rye Library

On October 4 every year is World Animal Day. This is a global day of celebrating animals and there are loads of fun activities and events that people can get involved with.

World Animal Day is coordinated by the charity Naturewatch Foundation, and we’re looking for children of all ages to enter our mug design competition. The winning entry will have the chance to have their design printed on our commemorative 2024 World Animal Day mugs.

Create A Creature with David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation

Join us for Summer Holiday fun with the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.

Learn about four different habitats where endangered animals live. Then get creative and design and make your own creature in cardboard and craft materials.

Younger children will need support from a parent / carer.

Marvellous Makers, Magical Moons - Rye library

This summer holiday join Ed Boxall for a fabulous creative session mixing poetry, music, stories and creative activities.

In celebration of the Summer Reading Challenge theme of 'Marvellous Makers' everyone will be able to create their own magical moon to take home inspired by the seven moons that appear in Ed's new book The Castle of Um.

The Summer Reading Challenge is a national annual programme produced by The Reading Agency and delivered in partnership with libraries.

This year’s Challenge is all about creativity. From dance to drawing, junk modelling to music, there’s something for everyone! Developed in partnership with Create, a leading charity bringing the creative arts to those who need it most, Marvellous Makers aims to unleash children's creativity through the power of reading.

Ceramic Plate Painting Workshop drop in - Rye Library

This Summer Holiday join our friends from Education Group to paint your very own ceramic plate! You can bring your design with you or think up something on the day. Will it be inspired by an artist? A picture of you? A favourite pet? You choose!
