Clifton Webb, Jean Peters and Maggie McNamara star in this romantic comedy directed by Jean Negulesco. Young secretary Maria Williams (McNamara) arrives in Rome to replace Anita Hutchins (Peters) at the United States Distribution Agency. As Anita shows Maria the sights of Rome, along with her colleague Miss Francis (Dorothy McGuire), they visit the Trevi Fountain and are told about the myth of throwing in a coin to have your wishes granted. As the film progresses each of the women struggle with their love lives as they each try to secure the man of their dreams.
