On April 2nd 1982, in an attempt to suppress civil unrest, Argentina invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands. Britain was quick to mobilise a task force and defend its territory, but the ensuing war, lasting over two months, would cost the British military 255 men. From the initial landing in Montevideo, to the events surrounding the sinking of HMS Ardent, Britain faced extreme adversity.
